![]() Even a 20% disruption could cause an additional 110,000 deaths. ![]() UNAIDS and the World Health Organization estimates that the pandemic could cause more than 500,000 additional AIDS-related deaths in sub-Saharan Africa between 2020–2021 if treatment is completely disrupted. While there has been progress towards UNAIDS’ 90-90-90 targets for prevention and treatment, year-on-year reductions this appears to be stalling, while the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on the HIV response are not yet known.
